You’re Allowed to Change Your Mind

Posted by Peony Parcel on

There’s a quiet pressure to be consistent. To stick with what you said you’d do. To honour the version of yourself who made a decision, even if that version no longer fits.

But here’s the truth: you’re allowed to change your mind.

You’re allowed to outgrow things. To pivot. To let go of routines, relationships, roles, or rituals that no longer serve you. You’re allowed to evolve.

The Myth of Consistency

We’re taught that changing our mind is flakey. That quitting is failure. That shifting priorities means we’re unreliable. But what if it means we’re paying attention?
What if it means we’re listening to our inner voice, the one that whispers, “This isn’t working anymore”?

Staying in something just because you once chose it isn’t loyalty. It’s self-abandonment.
Growth Isn’t Linear.....
Maybe the job that once lit you up now feels heavy. Maybe the friendship that used to feel safe now feels strained. Maybe the morning routine that once grounded you now feels like a chore.

That doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means you’re growing.
And growth is messy. It’s nonlinear. It’s full of detours and redirections and quiet revolutions.

The Emotional Freedom of Letting Go

There’s power in the pivot. In saying, “This used to be right for me, and now it’s not.” In releasing the guilt, the pressure, the need to explain.
You don’t owe anyone a justification for your evolution. You only owe yourself honesty.
So if something’s tugging at you, a new idea, a different rhythm, a softer way, follow it. Trust it. Honour it.

Because you’re allowed to change your mind. And sometimes, that’s the most courageous thing you can do.
